When You Are Sick & Tired of Being Sick & Tired...

When everything seems to be working against you, it seems to cause a chain reaction.

You know that feeling I’m talking about...and it's frustrating!

Anyone who knows me would tell you that I’m that positive, happy-go-lucky person. A Pollyanna, ever-optimistic & hopeful. And hey, I wear it as a badge of honor!

But lately, I haven’t been able to get off of the negative merry-go-round. It has been one thing after another: a death in the family, financial struggles (life of an entrepreneur, am I right?), having COVID, cars breaking down, daily demands of family & mounting tension with my husband from aforementioned challenges. I think I hear the world’s smallest violin playing!

When you feel like you are in such a negative cycle it’s difficult to envision a positive turn of events. These are my 3 simple strategies to change your perspective to get through those hard times!

Take A Time Out

You heard that right. Take some time away from all of the noise going on in life & just be. Use this time to meditate, journal, pray and hit your internal reset button. Drink a cup of coffee on the porch in the crisp morning air, go on a walk, pamper yourself!

Taking a moment away from the chaos of life can be energizing, so when you are faced with reality again, you have a fresh perspective to tackle the problems head-on!

Intentional Distraction

Distractions don’t have to be a negative thing. Healthy distractions like music, reading, or catching up with an old friend can give your mind a little break from the things stressing you out. This little distraction can have a big impact on your emotional strength so that you can change the things that have you feeling down.

Stay Humble

This one is a little counterintuitive, but continuing to have gratitude, hope, & awareness through difficult times is making you more resilient as a person. You will continue to grow & better yourself, even during difficult times, by making the decision to be humble. When life knocks you down on your knees, you're in the perfect position to pray. Have hope and be thankful for the difficulty, having an awareness that you are growing and will come through the darkness and become a stronger and more resilient person.

It sounds simple, but it’s not always easy!  Life always gets brighter when I do these things.

There will always be hard times & good times, and times in between throughout life. It’s how we respond that makes us perfectly imperfect!
